Attraction Type: Interactive activity area; small performance venue.
Location: On the western side of Grizzly Peak.
General Description: Test your skills as you try different adventures in the Redwood forest.
Will’s Review: This good-sized area, often overlooked by many, is one of the most beautiful and charming spaces in the entire Resort. Patterned after Northern California’s famous Redwood forests, this area incorporates different trail-style obstacles (zip line, climbing wall) with the ambiance of nature, towering trees, and running streams of fresh water. While most of the obstacles have a height/weight limit, several “Ranger Stations” throughout allow both kids and adults to climb to towering heights, giving great bird’s-eye-views of California Adventure and the neighboring Craftsman-style Grand Californian Resort. This is a great place to get pictures, making the climb even doubly worth it. In addition, children will love the story time with characters from Disney’s “Brother Bear.”
Touring Tips: Visit anytime; the area is rarely crowded. Check the outpost at the entrance to the Challenge Trail for “Brother Bear” show times; arrive approximately 15 minutes before hand for the best seating.
Warning: Some elements of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, such as the zip line, have been known to aggravate some guests’ heart, back, and neck problems. Expectant mothers are urged to use caution.
Family Info: The area, modeled in fashion after Tom Sawyer Island, is an elaborately-themed playground geared towards the small ones. However, adults have just as much fun exploring the scenic area and getting great views – and great pictures – from up high. Some elements of this area also have height restrictions of 42”.
Variations: This attraction is unique to DCA.
