“a bug’s land”

The themed area of “a bug’s land” marked the first new land to be built at Disney’s California Adventure, having opened in 2002 to address the lack of children’s rides that were offered in this park. This land is divided into two distinct sections: Bountiful Valley Farm and Flik’s Fun Fair.

Bountiful Valley Farm was an opening-day sub-district of the land, and was temporary absorbed into the Golden State themed area before being incorporated as “a bug’s land.” Flik’s Fun Fair is the portion that opened in 2002 that earned a renaming of this smaller district. “a bug’s land” is located between Hollywood Pictures Backlot and Golden State, and can be accessed from the main pathway just north of Sunshine Plaza. The Flik’s Fun Fair portion of the land is found in the back of Bountiful Valley Farm.

The major attraction at Bountiful Valley Farm is the 3-D film “It’s Tough to Be A Bug!”, based off of the Disney-Pixar film “a bug’s life.” Directly across from the theater is the Bountiful Valley Farm Play Area, which includes a climbable tractor and an irrigation pipe-themed water play area (yes, you read that correctly).

Further back in Flik’s Fun Fair, children of all ages can experience a variety of brief attractions that are designed to make you feel that you are the size of a bug, complete with overgrown blades of grass and giant props. One of the more creative of these adventures is Flik’s Flyers, but don’t underestimate the popularity of Heimlich’s Chew-Chew Train. Nearby, Francis’ Ladybug Boogie provides plenty of fun, as does the rather slow bumper car adventures at Tuck and Roll’s Drive ‘Em Buggies.
