Royal St. from Club 33
New Orleans Square opened in July 1966, just a few months before the passing of Walt Disney. The first new land to be added to Disneyland, this personal pet project of Walt features immersive thematic elements, boutique shops, winding streets, and nooks and crannies. Live jazz musicians add to the experience of this faux Crescent City, as do the authentic restaurants with menu choices that can’t be found anywhere else in the park.
This land is situated along the south bank of the Rivers of America, just beyond Adventureland. The terraced seating along the riverbanks provides viewing for the nighttime spectacular, Fantasmic! New Orleans Square can be accessed from either Adventureland or from Frontierland, and is the way to get to Critter Country.
Two of Disneyland’s most popular attractions are found front and center in this land, with the shops and restaurants being tucked into the side streets. Pirates of the Caribbean is located to the immediate west of the Adventureland entrance, right across from Café Orleans. The street between these two venues is Royal Street, and is where to find shops such as Pieces of Eight and Cristal d’Orleans. This is also where you can find Disneyland’s only fine dining location, The Blue Bayou.

Set in the ambiance of the opening dark bayou scene of Pirates of the Caribbean, the Bayou is located just below the exclusive Club 33, a members-only restaurant and the only location in Disneyland Park that serves alcohol. Walking along the Rivers, you will also find the full-service French Market Restaurant, as well as The Disneyland Railroad – New Orleans Square Station. Finally, the stately Haunted Mansion sits just beyond the main portion of the land.
