When Disneyland first opened, the shops of Main Street, U.S.A. resembled that more or less of an actual small town, turn-of-the-century Main Street, complete with a working pharmacy and smoke shop. Today, a few interesting stores can still be found, but the majority of the stores are devoted to last-minute gifts and generic Disneyland souvenirs. As such, this area can be both a great place to find one-of-a-kind gifts and also do some rushed last-minute shopping before leaving. The stores of Main Street remain open up to 60 minutes after park closing, so you can get your shopping in, but beware, as this is the busiest time!
Candy Palace & Candy Kitchen – Located on the west side of Main Street, here you can find unique candy creations, Disney lollipops, assorted candied apples, and a wide array of jelly beans. In addition, guests can watch through windows as the Main Street bakers make fresh fudge and other sweets, which are available for purchase in the retail area.
Crystal Arts - On the east side of Main Street, a small shop features unique and custom-made glass figurines and etched glass, featuring both Disney characters and world landmarks.
China Closet – Found on the east side of Main Street, various Disney figurines and limited-edition plates made of fine china can be discovered here.
Disneyana – Located off Town Square between the Fire House and the Emporium, this small store features a variety of vintage Disney clothes and souvenirs not found at the other gift shops in the park.
Disney Clothiers, Ltd. - Exactly what it sounds like, with everything from the Disney Princesses to Pooh to Mickey Mouse. Located on the east side of Main Street near Town Square.
Disney Showcase – A variety of souvenirs and clothes, with a unique theater theme that shows clips of Disney animated films on a large screen in the center of the room.
Emporium – This is the largest store in Disneyland, and one of the most popular locations for finding everything from autograph books (for the Disney characters) to pens, books, souvenirs, postcards, and even backpacks and jackets. One of the most interesting aspects of this store are the windows facing outside to Town Square that are usually dressed up with a variety of moving dioramas that retell the story of the latest Disney animated film.
The Mad Hatter – Located on the east side of Town Square, here you can find a variety of odd hats, not to mention the classic Mickey Mouse ears. Names are embroided on selected hats for free.
Market House – One of the few turn-of-the-century-style stores that still exist, this old-fashioned general store on the east side of the street features a variety of snacks and all-natural candies and dry goods, as well as cameras and postcards. A large pot-belly stove can be found in the middle of the store, along with a table and chairs for a game of checkers.
Main Street Magic Shop – Once staffed by actor Steve Martin, today many aspiring comics and magicians from Los Angeles’ Magic Castle work here, demonstrating a variety of slight-of-hand tricks.
Main Street Photo Supply Company – The largest photo supply store in Disneyland, experts in both traditional and digital photography are on hand to make film suggestions and assist with minor camera and camcorder repairs. Cameras and camcorders are also available for rent here with a refundable deposit.
Fortuosity Shop – Found on the west side of the street, a variety of Craftsman-style jewelry pieces, watches, and clocks can be found here, both in traditional and Disney styles. Often, a Disney watch artist is on hand, creating various custom designs.
Newstand East / Newstand West – True last-minute Disneyland gifts can be picked up here before exiting the park. These are found near the main entrance tunnels, on either side of The Main Street Station.
Penny Arcade – Once entirely an old-fashioned arcade attraction, the Penny Arcade has been taken over as a Disney plush store, with plush characters lining the shelves and the main center aisle. In the back of the Arcade, however, you can still find some old-fashioned turn-of-the-century arcade games and short films.
Silhouette Studio – Located in a small space on the east side of Main Street, here you can sit for a quick and artistic hand-cut silhouette to be framed and purchased.
20th Century Music Company - Located behind Fortuosity Shop, this store sells a variety of Disney music and books, including Disneyland Park soundtracks and Disney music compilations.
