Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
One of the original lands at Disneyland, Frontierland was originally based on the adventures of Davy Crockett and the American Southwest. Most commonly accessed from Central Plaza through the 1955-era Frontierland Stockade, this route brings you into Frontierland Plaza. To your immediate north and south are a variety of shops, as well as the Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition on the northern side. The last outlet on your south side is The Golden Horseshoe, home to a variety of daily entertainment. Directly ahead of you (to your west) is the Rivers of America and Frontierland Dock, boarding station for both the Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia. To the north is the delicious Tex-Mex Rancho del Zocalo Resturante, as well as the towering peaks of Big Thunder Mountain.
Walking to the south of Frontierland Dock will bring you to the southern tip of the River, and across from River Bell Terrace. Just around the backside of the River Belle is Adventureland. Continuing around the south dock of the Rivers of America will bring you to the terraced viewing area for Fantasmic! With New Orleans Square on your left-hand side (your south) and continuing, with keeping the Rivers on your right-hand side, you will come to the Rafts to Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island. Upon the Island, the southernmost point is Harper’s Mill, which doubles by night as the stage for Fantasmic! Just beyond Harper’s is Castle Rock, a series of caves and cliffs, and Fort Wilderness.
Back at Frontierland Dock, walking to your north this time, will bring you to Big Thunder Trail. This trail runs in between Big Thunder Mountain and the Rivers of America, wraps around the mountain, and helps to connect Frontierland Plaza with Fantasyland Plaza. Along the way, Big Thunder Ranch will be on your left-hand side.
