Sleeping Beauty Castle - Disneyland Park
The only park Walt Disney personally opened, the original Disneyland Park opened on July 17th, 1955. The original lands of the park included the grand turn-of-the-century Main Street, U.S.A., the exotic jungles of Adventureland, the wild west adventures of Frontierland, the storybook charm of Fantasyland, and the ever-changing futuristic vision of Tomorrowland. Over time, of course, the park grew and expanded. The first major expansion to Disneyland was the 1966 addition of New Orleans Square, a charming backstreet maze of boutique shops, gourmet restaurants, and immersive attractions. In 1972, Bear Country debuted just west of Frontierland as the home of the foot-stompin’ “Country Bear Jamboree.” That land evolved over time, however, and as the bears moved out, new critters took their place; as a result, the newly-christened Critter Country has been enchanting guests since 1988. The newest addition to the imaginative world of fun, adventure, and fantasy is Mickey’s Toontown, debuting in 1993. Complete reviews of all of the park’s lands, attractions, shops, and restaurants can be found in this guide.
